The optional back panel for flash umbrellas is pulled over the front of your translucent umbrella with an elastic band, similar to a shower cap, and turns it into a softbox. The back panel is white on the inside and black on the outside. This prevents unwanted stray light from escaping from the back of the umbrella, which could be reflected uncontrollably and affect the light quality of the subject. At the same time, the amount of light that hits the subject through the front of the umbrella is increased. This makes it the perfect tool when the flash power is insufficient.
