Umbrellas are known for their ease and speed of set-up, but not all umbrella systems are the same.

The centered umbrella mount of the EL flash units allows symmetrical, optimal illumination of all Elinchrom umbrellas. Elinchrom Umbrella Deep umbrellas are manufactured using 16 fiberglass rods to achieve a perfect circular shape. The deep design offers precise control over the spread of the light. In addition, these umbrellas can be converted into "folding" softboxes by adding, for example, a translucent cover to a silver umbrella or a silver / black cover to a translucent umbrella. Many other options are possible.

The white shade is often chosen for its slightly warmer tones and softer shadow transition.

When using the Umbrella Deep Translucent umbrella, the optional translucent diffuser provides the lighting effect of a large dome light. This can be positioned to modify any catchlight as desired.
